Arthur DeRouen III, was born on September 11, 1954, to the union of the late Arthur DeRouen, Jr. and Hassel Moore DeRouen Johnson. He was the only son among six sisters, a role he carried with a deep sense of responsibility. In addition to the steadfast love and guidance of his parents, Arthur was also raised and profoundly influenced by his devoted stepfather, Lester Johnson. On Friday evening, May 23, 2025, at the age of 70, Arthur peacefully passed away leaving behind a legacy of love for his children and family, and a life lived with quiet strength and dignity.
Arthur was affectionately known as "Bro" and "Judge" by his family and friends/ He accepted Christ at an early age, a foundation that guided his life. He was a proud graduate of Jeanerette Senior High School, Class of 1972, and went on to attend USL (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette).
Arthur dedicated much of his early career to working diligently at the Port of Iberia and in the offshore industry, where he earned the respect of his peers through his reliability and work ethic. These years built a foundation of perseverance and discipline that would later serve him well when he stepped out in faith to follow his true calling.
That calling came to life when Arthur opened Judge's Auto Paint and Body Shop--- a business that wasn't just about restoring cars, but about bringing beauty and pride back into people's lives. His shop was a place where skill met soul. He poured his heart into every detail, treating each vehicle as if it were his own, and every customer as family. Whether it was a small paint job or a complete restoration. Arthur's craftsmanship was second to none. His pride in his work was unmistakable, and he remained committed to his passion until his health no longer allowed him to continue.
Beyond his work, Arthur was known for something even more special-- his ability to lift spirits. He had a natural, effortless way of making those around him laugh. With quick wit, a warm heart, and an infectious laugh, he turned ordinary moments into cherished memories. For Arthur, making people laugh wasn't just a talent-- it was a part of his life's purpose. He believed that a good day wasn't measured by personal gain, but by how much light and laughter he had brought into someone else's life. His happiness was deeply intertwined with the happiness of others, and in that way, he gave to the world one of life's most beautiful gifts--- laughter.
