Herman DeRouen, a cherished soul born on September 13, 1934, in Patontville, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, at New Iberia Manor North, surrounded by the warm embrace of memories filled with laughter, music, and love. He was 90 years old.
Herman dedicated his life to the hard work of a laborer, a testament to his unwavering commitment and strength. Yet, it was in the tender moments spent with family that he truly found his joy. Everyone who knew him will remember his warm smile and infectious laughter, which spoke of a man who cherished those dearest to him. Above all, Herman had a profound love for music, especially playing the guitar. The gentle strums of his beloved instrument could fill a room with warmth, just as his kind spirit filled the hearts of his family and friends.
Herman was predeceased by his parents Anita DeRouen, Father Linoel DeRouen Sr. siblings: sisters Gercie Hebert and Elise Ribet, as well as brothers Ulysses DeRouen, Raymond DeRouen, Lionel DeRouen Jr., and Roy De'Rouen Sr. Their memories linger on, a reminder of the bonds that stretched beyond this world.
He leaves behind his loving family, which includes Amos DeRouen, Anita Ann Charpentier, and Emily Rose Breaux. Together, they carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and musical spirit.
A visitation will be held in his honor at Fields Funeral Home in New Iberia, Louisiana, on July 31, 2025, from 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM, a rosary service will began promptly at 9:15 AM. The funeral service will take place at St. Nicholas Catholic Church at 11:00 AM, concluding at noon. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate a remarkable man who will forever be remembered for his love of family and music.
As we gather to bid farewell, let us remember the moments of joy he gifted us—a loving father, brother, and friend who strummed the chords of life with love and laughter. Rest in peace, Herman; your melody will always play in our hearts.
