Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence Jay Patterson, age 48, a resident of Dallas, Texas and native of New Iberia, Louisiana, who passed away on Saturday, April 25,2026, will be Saturday May 9, 2026, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church - 805 Field Street; New Iberia, LA 70560 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM until the time of service.

Lawrence Jay Patterson was born on September 7, 1977, in New Iberia, Louisiana to Lawrence Walker and Patricia Keyes Fontenette, both of whom preceded him in death.

Lawrence was a professional welder who took pride in his craft. He had a deep love for cooking and found joy in grilling and fishing. He was known for his presence and the way he connected with those around him.

At an early age, he accepted Christ and carried his faith throughout his life.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Tycavian Jacob Mitchell and Jayden Jasi Patterson. He is also survived by his siblings; Tiffany M. Celestine, Ladine Keyes, Terry Patterson, Victoria Fontenette, Henry Patterson, and Edward Patterson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Walker and Patricia Keyes Fontenette; his maternal grandparents, Edward Keyes and Cecilia Morris Keyes; and his paternal grandparents, Leo Reaux and Hilda Walker.
