Mary Nellie Reed

New Iberia, LA- Funeral Services celebrating the life of Mary "Nellie" Reed will be Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Good Samaritan Church of God in Christ--- 503 Harriet Street, New Iberia, LA 70560 with Rev. Isaiah Perro, Eulogist. Visitation will be Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 10:00-11:45 AM at Fields Funeral Home and will resume at the church from Noon until the time of services.

She will be laid to rest at Zion Travelers Baptist Church Cemetery.

Nellie, as she was affectionately called, was born on January 17, 1939 to Mary Jones-Bailey and Thomas Bailey in Iberia Parish, Louisiana. She was a resident of New Iberia, Louisiana. Nellie passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 4:48 PM at Iberia Medical Center surrounded by family.

Nellie loved to go fishing and crabbing. She also enjoyed singing, cooking, and she loved to talk.  She believed in God and loved to go to church anytime she had the chance.

Nellie leaves to cherish her life and memory, her four (4) daughters, Debra Reed-Green, Janice Leonard, Velma Reed-Ezeb (Kliens), and Charlene Reed- Boutte (Kiley); nine-teen (19) grandchildren, twenty-seven (27) great-grandchildren, thirteen (13) great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is reunited with her parents, Thomas and Mary Jones Bailey; her husband, Richmond Reed, her two (2) sons; Clifton Reed, and Richmond Reed, Jr.; her daughters, Melva Reed and Beverly Reed; her brothers: Joseph Bailey,  John Bailey, Thomas Bailey, Peter Bailey, George Bailey; her sisters: Mildred Bailey, Beatrice Bailey, Edith Bailey-Ledet, and Leola Bailey- Fondal; a niece: Edel Fondal-Deal, a nephew David Dominique, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Barnes, Branson Reed, Ikari Nicholas, Roger Reed, Adam Reed, and Kliens Ezeb.
