New Iberia, LA. - Services for Mr. Nelson Joseph Doucette, 64, who passed on Sunday, September 22, 2024 will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Fields Funeral Home Chapel. A Visitation will be held at 12:00PM until the time of service. Pastor Donald Wright, Officiating. Internment will be held privately.
Nelson Joseph Doucette , affectionately known as "Doucette" was a native of New Iberia, LA. He transitioned at 2:14 P.M. on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
Nelson was a loving companion to Ms. Rebecca Redford, whom he affectionately called "Homie/Homegirl", of New Iberia, LA. for 42 years and father of 8 children. His father taught him at a tender age to be a carpenter. Within his time on this side of Heaven, he was also a truck driver and a landscaper.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his lifetime partner, Rebecca Redford of New Iberia, LA.; Three (3) sons: Reginald Batiste-Doucette, Layson R. Doucette; and Rondon R. Redford (Courtney) whom he raised as his own; Five (5) daughters: Sandra D. Doucette, Miecheal M. Doucette, Kim Doucette, Layshun R. Doucette; and Ronika R. Redford whom he raised as his own; One (1) brother: Patrick J. Doucette; One (1) sister: Adeline D. Thibodeaux (Robert); Thirteen (13) grandchildren: Evandelisha Doucette, Damien Doucette, Ashtan Doucette, Kameron Doucette, Ashad Doucette, Brianna Doucette, Christian Doucette, Taylor Davis Doucette, Lavar Marks-Doucette, LakeLynn Doucette, TreLynn Bonnett, Parker Redford, and Harper Redford; Seven (7) great-grandchildren: Denvr Doucette, Daien Doucette, Dyan Doucette, Benzlee Doucette, Nobah Doucette, Sylon Doucette, and AdaLynn Bonnett; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Nelson was preceded in death by his parents: Russell J. Doucette, Margaret Antoine Doucette; his paternal grandparents: Whitney Doucette and Mildred Broussard Doucette; his maternal grandparents: Wilfred Antoine and Adele Antoine; his son: Layson R. Doucette; his brother Ray Michael Doucette; his sister Elizabeth Doucette Dugas; and his granddaughter Naija Umond Doucette.
