Alexander Anthony Smith, affectionately known as "Rasta", "Michael," or "Mike" was a loving father, brother, uncle, partner, and friend. He entered this world on February 28, 1961, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana. Sadly, he departed from this life on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 4:31 PM, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Throughout his life, Mike found immense fulfillment in his work as a carpenter. He had an unwavering love for fishing and would often venture out into serene waters to appreciate nature and reel in some remarkable catches. Family trips held a special place in his heart as well. Whether it was exploring new destinations or revisiting cherished places, Alexander viewed these adventures as opportunities for growth and creating lasting memories. His love extended beyond human relationships; he had an undeniable affection for his dogs. Caring for them brought him immense joy and allowed him to express his nurturing nature. Their companionship provided solace throughout his life’s journey. "Rasta" will forever be remembered as someone who embraced life with an infectious spirit of happiness and contentment. He radiated positivity wherever he went, earning the admiration of all who crossed paths with him. His warm smile could light up any room and make those around him feel instantly at ease.

We find comfort in knowing that Mike has been reunited with his loved ones who have preceded him in death. The heavenly reunion includes Isabella Reddin, Johnnie Ramey, Michael K. Smith, Marcus R. Smith, Amanda Simon, and his beloved companion, Faith Marie Jones. Their presence will continue to be felt as they watch over their cherished family.

Michael leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever fill the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his spouse and lifelong friend, Karrie Ann Smith, who was his rock through thick and thin. Together, they built a bond that withstood the test of time. He is also survived by five sons: Michael Kittrel Smith, Zachary Dean Harrison (Sadie Smithson), Marcus Ramey Smith, Nicholas Michael Jones, Isaiah Anthony Jones Smith; one daughter: Isabella Lyann Smith (Tramaine Anthony Jacquet); as well as six grandchildren: Jayden Smith, Aziyah Smith, Malachi Jacquet, Cameron Jacquet, Zayden Harrison and a precious grandson whose arrival is anticipated with great joy.

Michael's departure has undoubtedly left a void in the lives of those who were lucky enough to know him. Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we choose to celebrate the beautiful moments he shared with us and honor his remarkable spirit. Let us remember him for his unwavering enthusiasm for life and the contagious happiness he spread. May his passion for carpentry continue to inspire others to find joy and fulfillment in their own creative pursuits. As we bid farewell to this incredible soul, may we carry his memory in our hearts forever.

Rest in eternal peace, dear Alexander Anthony Smith. Your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.

Condolences may be expressed in Rasta's guestbook.
