David John Romero, a beloved resident of New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 4, 2023. He was born on October 27, 1944, in New Iberia, a town that he would always call home.

David lived a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. His warm and caring nature endeared him to everyone he met. He had an extraordinary ability to make people feel valued and cherished. Whether it was with his family or out the community, David had an uncanny ability to bring people together.

David's military service played a significant role in shaping his character. He proudly served in the United States Navy, dedicating himself to protecting and serving his country. His bravery and commitment were evident throughout his life as he continued to embody the values instilled in him during his time in the service.

Outside of his military career, David was a devoted father and loving grandfather. His daughter Connie Romero (Hayward Bourque) and son David Romero Jr. were the lights of his life. David cherished every moment spent with them, creating lifelong memories filled with joy and love. As a grandfather to Dustin Romero and Cage Albert, he relished in the opportunity to witness their growth and impart wisdom upon them.

Family held a special place in David's heart, and he had strong bonds with his brother Robert Romero (Dorothy Romero) and sister Janet Babineaux (Steve Babineaux). These connections brought immense joy and happiness into his life.

In addition to being a dedicated family man, David had an unwavering passion for adventure. Whether it was exploring new places or embarking on thrilling experiences, he lived life to the fullest. Those fortunate enough to accompany him on these remarkable journeys enjoyed countless tales filled with laughter and excitement.

Friends gravitated towards David's charismatic persona. His amiable nature made him an invaluable friend, and his compassionate ear was always available to those in need. He possessed the rare ability to offer solace and support through any situation, providing comfort with a single word or gesture.

Services to honor David's life will be held at Fields Funeral Home located at 712 Center Street in New Iberia, Louisiana. Visitation will take place on December 7, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Following the visitation, there will be an additional service at Fields Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. A viewing will conclude the evening from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

David John Romero was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of so many people. His genuine kindness, unwavering love for his family, and adventurous spirit will be forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. While he may no longer be with us in person, his memory will live on in our hearts and minds.
