A Memorial Gathering for Mr. James Nelson Derouen, "Boze", 59,  will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 between the hours of 4PM-7PM at Fields Funeral Home Chapel, 712 Center Street, New Iberia, LA.  Nelson was a resident of Coteau, LA. He passed away suddenly on October 12, 2023 at 10:25PM.

A rosary will be prayed at 5:00PM.

James Nelson Derouen, affectionately known as Boze, left this world unexpectedly on October 12, 2023, leaving behind a void that can never be filled. Born on February 29, 1964, in the charming town of New Iberia, he brought joy and warmth to the lives of those who knew him. Boze's passing has left the community and his loved ones deeply saddened and yearning for his infectious laughter and compassionate presence.

Boze's Memorial Gathering is being held to honor his remarkable life and bid him a fond farewell. It will also serve as an opportunity for family, friends, and acquaintances from near and far to pay their respects and share their cherished memories of Boze.

Boze may have been taken away from us suddenly, but his spirit will forever live on in our hearts. In our memories of him, let us find solace, inspiration, and a reminder to cherish the moments we have with those we hold dear.

As we say goodbye to this remarkable soul who brightened our lives with his infectious laughter and loving presence, let us also remember that it is through celebrating his life that we find the strength to move forward. Boze will forever be remembered as someone who touched our lives deeply and left an indelible mark on our souls.

He leaves to carry on his precious memories, his life partner, Karen Viator; one son, Lance Derouen; two daughters, Heather Derouen Romero and Nicole Derouen; one brother, Dean Derouen(Jaime); one sister, Roxanne Derouen Lavergne (Troy); and four grandchildren: Kamee Menard, Cody Romero Jr., Baelin Romero and Collin LeBlanc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn James Derouen and Eunice Bourque Derouen.

Rest in eternal peace, dear Boze. Your joyous spirit will forever be cherished, and your legacy deeply treasured.
