Glencoe, LA - Joseph Lee Colbert,63, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on July 19, 2023, at Iberia Medical Center at 12:51 PM.
Memorial Services will be held at Fields Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
Joseph Lee Colbert was born on September 28, 1959, to the late Albert Colbert, Jr. and Shirley Colbert. He was a native of Glencoe, LA and attended Thomas Gibbs Elementary. He graduated from Franklin Senior High School in 1977.
Joseph was the second of six siblings. He began providing for his family and began working at Morton Salt Chemical Plant in Weeks Island, LA. After working many years there, he then began working to serve his community at the District #5 Water Plant in Four Corners, LA. Joseph was family orientated and always looked out for others. He served as a handyman for his family and community. No matter what it was, he could fix it. Joseph enjoyed sports and was a team member of the “New Rock” softball team.
Joseph leaves to cherish his precious memories; wife, Stephanie Colbert, Four Corners, LA; two children, Jerika (Howard Hunter) and Joseph Colbert, Jr. (Crystal Colbert) of Beaumont, TX; grandchildren, Arkayla Stewart, Ja’Miyah Colbert, Jay’Cyon Colbert, and Ja’liyah Colbert of Beaumont, TX; step-daughter, Natasha Marks of Jeanerette, LA; four siblings, Anthony Ray Colbert (Tina Colbert), Kevin John Colbert, Linda Marie Colbert all of Glencoe, LA, and Charlene Wilson (Harold) of Baldwin, LA; three nephews, Trimond Carter, Katy, TX, Jaquincy Colbert and Jacoby Colbert of Baldwin, LA; two nieces, Trevellyn Colbert of Franklin, LA and Trevione Colbert of Baldwin, LA; one great-nephew, Trimond Carter, Jr. of Katy, TX, and Khali Gibson of Franklin, LA.; Aunts, Gloria Washington, Amelia Colbert of New Orleans, LA, Louise Williams, LuAda Washington of Jeanerette, LA; Uncles, Leonard Colbert, Sr., and Roy Colbert, Sr. of Jeanerette, LA, Chester Charles, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Shirley Colbert, Jr.; brother, Gregory Paul Colbert; great nephew, Trevor Paul Colbert; stepson, Fitzgerald Marks; Maternal grandparents, Chester and Ruby Charles, Sr.; Paternal grandparents, Albert and Clara Colbert, Sr.; Aunts, Octavia Williams, Ruby May Breaux, Pearl Colbert Teno, Cora Bryant, Laura Selders, Marva Colbert, and a host of other relatives and friends.
