Loreauville, LA - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Marie Genevieve Simon, 86, will be held at 11 A.M. December 14, 2022 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Loreauville, Louisiana with Father Paul Onuegbe, Celebrant, officiating.

Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 9502 Harold Landry Road, New Iberia, Louisiana. 70563

Visitation will be held at Fields Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 beginning at 7:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M.

Marie transitioned to her heavenly home Friday, December 9, 2022 at 5:08 A.M. at her residence surrounded by her family.

Marie Genevieve was born to the on September 29, 1936, to Louis and Yousta Gardner in Loreauville, LA. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, December 9, 2022, at the age of 89. Marie attended Jonas Henderson High School, she was employed at Iberia General Hospital for 17 years.  

On September 7, 1951, she was united in holy marriage to Mr. Louis J. Simon and through this union five children were born. 
Ms. Marie was a faithful member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an awesome mother of five children and loved her family outings. 

Marie leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, John (Sandra) Simon of Loreauville, LA; and Ricky (Milie) Simon of Carencro, LA; three daughters, Lisa (Alvin, Jr.) Jeanlouis, Phillis Reed both of Loreauville, LA; and Roxy (Raymond) Lewis of New Iberia, LA; one sister, Ida Mae Antoine, of Loreauville, LA; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband, John J. Simon, her parents, Louis and Youta Gardiner, two grandsons, Ricardo Jeanlouis, and Garon Paul Atkinson Lewis, and one brother, Leward Gardiner.
