Rodney Paul Jacquet, a beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, and friend, passed away on January 11, 2024. He was born on October 29, 1961 at Lafayette Charity Hospital to his parents Clement Jacquet, Jr. and Gloria Decuir Jacquet who precede him in death. Rodney's life was one filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments shared with his family and friends.
Growing up in New Iberia, Louisiana, Rodney had deep roots in his community. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Clement Jacquet, Sr. and Lillian Johson Jacquet, as well as his paternal grandparents Elenor Jean Batiste Decuir and Felix Decuir. Rodney held a special place in his heart for his sister Laura Mae Vallot, his brother Larry Jacquet, and his nephew Lawless Trevor Jacquet.
Rodney's generosity and kind-hearted nature were evident in all aspects of his life. He had a unique ability to make everyone around him feel valued and loved. His smile could light up a room and his presence brought comfort to those who needed it most. Rodney's dedication to his loved ones knew no bounds.
In 2012, Rodney found the love of his life when he married Wesella Tines. Rodney embraced the role of stepfather to Jerome Isaiah Tines with open arms, treating him as if he were his own son.
Rodney's family held a special place in his heart. He maintained close relationships his brother Carl Joseph Jacquet, sisters Cynthia Jacquet, Sylvia Jacquet (Jonathan), Vanessa Phillips (Alfred), Carol Arceneaux, Troy Jacquet; nephews Larry Vallot Jr., Glen Broussard Jr., Lewald "Lance" Vallot Sr. (Arteisha), Brent Jacquet, Dontorick Jacquet, Khristian Jones and Garius Arceneaux; nieces Marla Jacquet Austin (Marcus), Keisha Perro, Markeisha Jacquet, Cyntrelle Allen, and Garielle Jacquet. The love between them was everlasting and filled with countless memories.
Rodney's impact extended beyond his immediate family. Kenyetta Colbert (Robert) and Mary Vangure held a special place in his heart as god-children. Their deep connection was a testament to Rodney's nurturing and caring.
In the face of this profound loss, we gather to celebrate the life of Rodney Paul Jacquet. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
To honor Rodney's life, visitation services will be held at Fields Funeral Home in New Iberia on January 20, 2024, at 8:00 AM and concluding at 11:00 AM. The Rosary will be read at 1030 a.m. A Mass ceremony will follow at 1:00 p.m., allowing friends and family to come together and pay their respects one final time at Fields Funeral Home.
The Family would like to give a special thanks to his personal Caregiver Vanessa Phillips, doctors and staff at Heart of Hospice (Acadiana), Dr Michael Cain, and all those who cared for our dear brother Rodeny Paul Jacquet.
Rodney's departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but his spirit will continue to guide those who loved him.
Though we mourn the loss of this remarkable individual today, let us also remember the joy he brought into our lives. Let us celebrate each precious moment spent with Rodney Paul Jacquet—the laughter shared, the memories created—and carry those memories in our hearts forever.
May his soul find eternal peace as he joins his loved ones who have gone before him. Rest in peace, dear Rodney. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
