New Iberia, LA - A Homegoing Celebration for Maxine Mary Moses, 82, a resident of New Iberia, LA who transitioned peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 2:55PM at her residence wwill be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 1:00PM at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 403 Field Street, New Iberia, LA, Pastor Ty G. McKinney, officiating.


Visitation will be held at Solid Rock Baptist Church on Saturday, May 25, 2024 12:00pm until the time of service.

She will await the resurrection at Hope Cemetery in New Iberia, Louisiana.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Maxine ”Granny” as she was warmly known was born March 20, 1942 in New Iberia, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Melba Simpson and Nathan Williams of which she had five other siblings.

Maxine early years in New Iberia, Illinois and Milwaukee framed a life that was as vibrant as her personality and heart. Maxine’s journey of learning and attending college then continued to her marrying her husband Larry Delahoussaye and becoming a mother of three (3) to two (2) beautiful  daughters and one (1) handsome son. She then remarried to William C “Big Money” Moses, III where together they raised Tekia , Tekian, Tequila and Tomecka Delahoussaye.

Maxine "Granny" as she was affectionately called by her grandbabies was also a devoted church member of Solid Rock Baptist church until she fell ill.

Maxine is survived by her two children: Garnett’s Delahoussaye and Larry Micheal Delahoussaye. Eight (8) Grandchildren: Tomecka and Tequila Delahoussaye, Benjamin Henry, Riccole Loy , Tanisha Daye, Ashley Adams, Lil Mike and Kenyatta; two (2) siblings: Joseph “Joe” Baloney and Marcella Robinson; twelve (12) great-grandchildren Tekia Delahoussaye, Tekian Delahoussaye, Terrionna Delahoussaye, Tearra Ozenne, Teiana Ozenne, Te’kendra Jones, Ken Jones, Jr., Donnavon Loyd, Tanija, Taleah, Tygen and Tylen Daye. 

She leaves to cherish her memories ten (10) great-great grandkids: Keyondrae Delahoussaye, Khalia Adkins, Ashley and Al‘tauvis Ozenne, A'Jazlyn, Jamyra, Ben Jr., Brennon Henry, Dionni and Zion Loyd and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and cousins who also played a vital role in her life. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Melba Simpson and Nathan Williams, her late husband’s Larry Delahoussaye and William C. Moses, sister: Carolyn Lively, Faye "Dugas" Baloney and Rose Marie Francis; one (1) daughter: Lori Ann Loyd; one (1) nephew: Junius, Jr.., Terrence Jones, Joseph "Head" Johnlouis and one (1) neice: Anissa Jones.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
